I have a 3820 as well, and i don't use my pc for anything demanding other than games. The temps are read off a register in the northbridge. the cpu itself is 52c, but the cores are 60c.
The 965 Express was an editors' choice at Tech Report. You can change the timings, but thats pretty complicated.
