What did help: Backing up the below key and deleting it, followed by reinstalling with Windows Live setup (no need to uninstall first). I got mine to work by reseting my router, I didn't know how this was fixing it but it was. It includes firewall software as well as antivirus protection, and it’s already part of your MSN membership. • Windows Live Messenger For me, the fix was deleting a certain folder in app data.

Otherwise it will probably say you can't delete the folder because it is in use. There may be an issue with your computer’s firewall. 1. if I install Tha 8.1 I can sing in but I can't be on it... you will see window messenger; choose it and remove; restart the computer; NOw download window messenger 8.1 which has less problem then 8.5 Henri Helpful +0 Report Henri Apr 21, 2009

Leslie0802 Helpful +7 Report Kami-sama Mar 4, 2009 08:19PM Hi, I have the solution if ur messenger doesn't open even when u have the process running. 1. Sunday, June 24, 2007 2:14 PM 0 Sign in to vote i did all of this as well, but then i also unchecked automaticly run when windows is open, this owrked After ending task it will no longer open at all, i click on the icon and nothing happens, it isn't running in the task list either. Was this helpful?

After this, still nothing! this contact form this happened to me before and for weeks i couldn't get my messenger to work. i disconeected my router. I fixed mine by clicking: 1.window tile 2.Computer 3.Local Disk Drives( C:) 4.pRogram Files 5.Windows Live 6.Messenger 7.

If you see the word Enabled with a check mark in front, click the check mark to remove it. Once u did that then try to download the old msn which is > the link. You can not post a blank message. have a peek here i've been emailing back and forth with msn support the whole time and nothing so far has solved my issue.

Below are instructions. So I looked more into it and it seems when someone on my network including myself starts msnmsgr.exe it creates exceptions in my routers firewall, but its adds so many it When you do that, a description will appear telling you what each icon represents. 2. I didn't have the key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MessengerService Much appreciated!

After clicking on the email several times and waiting for it "not to load," I opened my "Add or Remove Programs" found three different types of Windows Live Messenger programs installled. Please try again later. until now it won't open. Check This Out I did exactly what u said and it worked right away...

I've already deleted and reinstalled. Anyway, check if your router has uPnP, and if it has make sure it's enabled. Once I disconnect to the internet, Messenger does load. Right-click on the icon for any firewall software you find.
